Slated for a May release in theaters, The Strangers: Chapter 1 is a horror film that follows a couple on a road trip to a remote vacation rental, where they become the targets of a group of masked strangers. While it's part of the Strangers franchise, this installment launches a new storyline and serves as the first chapter of a planned trilogy.

The Strangers: Chapter 1 brings back the iconic strangers, updating their unsettling malevolence for today's viewers. Furthermore, the upcoming trilogy of The Strangers films, in collaboration with Lionsgate and directed by Renny Harlin, aims to explore the origins of Dollface, Pin-Up Girl, and the Man in the Mask, revealing the motivations behind their terrifying actions against unsuspecting individuals.

Lionsgate has just released the official trailer for The Strangers: Chapter 1.

In the trailer, viewers catch a glimpse of Maya (Madelaine Petsch) and Ryan (Froy Gutierrez) embarking on what seems like a peaceful vacation in an unusual town. However, their idyllic getaway takes a dark turn when they are ambushed by the trio of assailants. The couple is then thrust into a terrifying game of cat and mouse, as they frantically attempt to evade their relentless pursuers within the confines of their cabin.

The ensemble cast of The Strangers: Chapter 1 also features Rachel Shenton, Gabriel Basso, Ema Horvath, Richard Brake, and Ella Bruccoleri alongside Madelaine Petsch, Froy Gutierrez, and others.

In a recent interview, the star Madelaine Petsch shared her initial reservations upon receiving the trilogy of scripts, feeling intimidated by the sheer scope of the project. She admitted, "When I got sent the trilogy of scripts, I said, ‘This feels like a behemoth that maybe shouldn’t be touched.’ I really felt that way as well, and I was very resistant to the idea." However, after immersing herself in the material, Petsch found herself drawn in and recognized the necessity of bringing the trilogy to life. She explained, "You’re getting so much more backstory," highlighting, "You’re getting so much more character development. I think my biggest pet peeve with the old one now is that you’re not really emotionally invested in those characters. So, yes, it’s terrifying, but you don’t know why they’re fighting originally."
